A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall

I could have read this lovely trans historical for much longer! And this book is already pretty chonky! I wanted more!

Viola found herself wounded on the Waterloo battlefield and presumed dead. So she took that opportunity to finally build the life she wanted. This meant rejecting her title to become her sister-in-law’s companion. Duke of Gracewood is lost in the haze of booze and opium after losing his best friend and suffering injuries in the war.

Viola finds herself helping Gracewood, who doesn’t realize their history. And falling in love. Siiiiigh.

This book if you are a fan of Jane Eyre and other gothic romances. It starts very: misty brooding moors and a Duke to match. When Gracewood takes her to the attic I was like, oh shit? Crazy wife??

My only issue was during the gazebo scene, there was some blocking and hand prop issues that distracted me. But you all know ima stickler for good blocking! -Ford
